Responsibilities The Mechanic repairs and overhauls automobiles, buses, trucks, and other automotive equipment. Inspects diesel engines to identify issues or malfunctions. Uses diagnostic tools and equipment to find problems, such as faulty fuel injectors, clogged filters, or engine misfires. Repairs or replaces damaged or worn-out engine parts (e.g., pistons, cylinders, turbochargers, or timing belts). Performs regular maintenance tasks like oil changes, filter replacements, and checking fluid levels.
Education and Experience
High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
One to three years related experience and/or training
A minimal one-year certificate from an accredited two-year college or technical school in a course of study related to the troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of both gasoline and diesel engine wheeled vehicles
Corresponding years of experience may be considered as a substitute for the level of education desired

Other Requirements Must receive a negative result from a DOT pre-employment drug screen, pass a DOT pre-employment physical and criminal background check. CDL Class B with Passenger Endorsement required or must be willing to obtain CDL Class B with Passenger Endorsement. In-house CDL training and testing available. Must be flexible with regard to covering varied work hours/shifts.
Starting Salary will be commensurate with years of experience and/or advanced educational degree.
The work environment characteristics include exposure to outside weather conditions, toxic/caustic chemicals, moving mechanical parts, fumes/airborne particles, and the risk of shock or vibration. Typically, the noise level is loud.
