Overview The Med Tech provides quality care and assistance with activities of daily living for residents, and assists with the administration of prescribed medications within the established scope of practice.
Responsibilities
Assist with medication administration within scope of practice; maintain working knowledge of policies and procedures.
Assist residents with activities of daily living; respond promptly to all resident calls or emergency alerts.
Perform housekeeping duties such as making beds, cleaning resident apartments, common areas, and dining rooms.
Plan and conduct activity programs for residents; assist residents to and from the dining room and activities.
Follow confidentiality policies regarding the release of resident information.
Check on residents, ensuring attendance at meals and activities; report status or concerns to appropriate individuals.
Communicate verbally and in writing to report resident status, upcoming community information, appointments, admissions, and transfers.
Assist new residents with the move‑in transition and provide emotional support.
Attend all scheduled medication trainings; complete medication cart audits; maintain the medication cart as directed.
Pass all medication observations; document all medication administration on EMAR/MAR; report exceptions to the HCD.
Re‑order medications and fax to pharmacy; communicate changes to resident families or RP as needed.
Document in the Daily Log and report to the HCD; meet with the HCD as required.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
High School Diploma or GED.
Completion of the Medication Aide Course.
Current CNA and Med Tech licenses from the State Board of Nursing in good standing.
Satisfactorily pass two medication observations annually.
Satisfactorily pass all medication cart audits assigned.
Attend four additional hours of medication administration education annually.
Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Organized and able to work well with all levels of personnel.
Member of the nursing team; follow the instruction of the supervisor.
Polite and considerate of residents, visitors, and co‑workers at all times.
Physically able to walk and stand for extended periods; lift 50 lbs, push or carry 25 lbs; safely lift and transfer residents with proper body mechanics.
Wear a designated uniform during working hours, including a name badge and a smile.
CPR/First Aid certified, or willing to become certified within 60 days of hire.
Represent the community in a positive and professional manner.
Attend and complete all required in‑services and staff meetings.
Willing to work a flexible schedule that includes weekends and holidays.
Remain calm and competent during emergencies.
