Maintenance Technician
Responsible for maintaining, repairing, and examining refrigeration systems, working specifically with ammonia refrigeration. Performs preventative maintenance and responds to breakdowns, and may be on call for emergency repairs.
Job Responsibilities
Job is an individual contributor and has no direct reports.
Confer with operators, observe, test, and evaluate operation of machinery and equipment to diagnose causes of malfunction.
Disassemble machinery and equipment to remove parts and make repairs.
Interface with state and federal government agencies as required.
Operate refrigeration and utility systems.
Perform daily chemical testing and log all test results, making adjustments required to maintain refrigeration and utility systems within established limits.
Understand and implement appropriate safety procedures, including education, training, protective equipment, and adherence to safety policies, regulations, standards, and laws.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Experience & Skills
3-5 years of experience in a related field is preferred.
Excellent proficiency in all Microsoft Office Suite products.
Ability to work various shifts.
Multi‑craft/multi‑skilled with expertise in electrical, electrical controls, mechanical, pneumatics, hydraulics, and fabrication.
Working and practical knowledge of plant utility systems is highly desirable (including boiler systems, ammonia refrigeration systems, compressed air systems).
Education
Associates degree or equivalent is preferred.
Ammonia Refrigeration Certification is a plus.
Work Environment
Work can be performed within a manufacturing plant environment with noise, extreme temperatures, and significant movement of powered equipment, people, and conveyor.
Work conditions are typical of a food manufacturing facility.
This role does not require any domestic travel.
Position requires physical agility to perform continuous lifting up to 50 pounds, bending, squatting, pushing, pulling, stretching/reaching, use of hands or fingers, talk, hear, feel objects, tools, controls, and standing/walking on concrete flooring.
Position requires the physical ability to stand/walk for the duration of work hours.
