The Augusta Judicial Circuit is seeking an excellent communicator for the position of

Victim Witness Advocate . You will be joining a team of 60 employees in the Augusta, Georgia, office and manage a standard felony caseload, where you will be responsible for contacting victims and witnesses of crimes to information and educate them about the process. This position will work closely not only with victims and/or witnesses of crime to guide them through the Victim/Witness Advocacy Program, but also with your trial team Assistant District Attorney and Investigator. We are looking for individuals with superior customer service skills, positive attitude, a strong sense of personal responsibility and a desire to help the community at large. Responsibilities include assisting with compensation claims, victim impact statements and advising of available resources based on the Victim Bill of Rights. Knowledge of the judicial process with respect to victims’ rights and case filings; and experience working with prosecutors and law enforcement is preferred, but if you do not have this experience, you must be willing to study and get up to speed quickly, so that you may begin to help the people of Augusta. We would prefer applicants with a bachelor’s degree in psychology, sociology, social work, counseling or a related field and two years of experience working in criminal justice, social services, crisis intervention, or trauma and violence safety assessment and planning fields; however, if you enjoy helping people, communicating and educating them, and are seeking to do meaningful work, please apply.
