Legal Assistant — Complex Commercial Litigation (Stuart, FL)
This role is ideal for a detail‑oriented, proactive Legal Assistant who thrives in a fast-moving environment and enjoys collaborating across attorneys, paralegals, and clients.
What You’ll Do
Keep workstreams organized and moving: prioritize tasks, manage attorney communications, and maintain case status updates.
Handle timekeeping and expenses: enter attorney time in a legal billing platform and process monthly reimbursements; track professional dues.
Own litigation calendars: schedule hearings, depositions, meetings, and key deadlines consistent with Florida and Federal civil procedure rules.
Manage case records: maintain electronic and physical client files; save pleadings, correspondence, and case documents with clear naming/organization.
File and serve materials: e‑file through Florida’s state portal and the federal CM/ECF system; coordinate service and confirmations.
Coordinate proceedings: liaise with courts and court reporters; confirm logistics and materials for hearings and depositions.
Draft routine documents: notices of hearings/depositions and similar litigation support documents.
Collaborate broadly: partner with paralegals and legal assistants to support case needs and ensure deadlines are met.
What You’ll Bring
2–7 years of experience in complex commercial/civil litigation as a Legal Assistant (minimum 2 years required).
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and strong calendar management skills.
Familiarity with Florida and Federal court practices, including e‑filing portals and deadline management.
Excellent organization, written/verbal communication, and the ability to set priorities in a high‑volume environment.
Comfort with legal billing/time entry systems and attorney expense workflows.
