General Position Summary The Project Manager / Estimator will be responsible for managing and overseeing projects from inception to completion, as well as providing accurate cost estimates. Their expertise in project management, estimating and environmental practices will be instrumental in ensuring project success within our specialized division. The project manager / estimator must possess a strong knowledge of construction materials, methods and regulations and adhere to Hillen’s safety standards and protocols.
Major Duties & Responsibilities Estimator
Prepare accurate and detailed cost estimates of potential projects, analyzing project specifications, materials, labor, and other relevant factors.
Prepare and review project documentation, including contacts, change orders, and progress reports, with a focus on compliance and regulations.
Prepares and estimate projects, change orders within the Abatement division, and others as needed. Ensures their compliance with project requirements, schedules and industry standards.
Analyze blueprints, specifications, and contract requirements to prepare accurate estimates.
Use estimating software to price material and labor for projects based on blueprints and specifications.
Attend job walks to understand the needs of the project and participate in pre-bid reviews to ensure accuracy.
Maintenance of an acceptable bid win ratio, consistently delivering the contracted volume of work set annually by the Director of Abatement.
Project Manager
Manage and lead projects within the Abatement division from initiation to completion, ensuring adherence to project timelines, budgets, quality & safety standards and state regulations.
Collaborate with clients, architects, engineers, and subcontractors to clarify environmental project requirements, resolve issues, and ensure project deliverables meet client expectations.
Develop and maintain project schedule specific to the Abatement division, coordination activities and resources to ensure timely and project completion.
Conduct regular site visits and inspections to monitor project progress, provide guidance to assigned supervisor or lead, ensure adherence to safety and environmental standards, and identify and address any potential issues or risks.
Coordinate and manage subcontractors withing the Abatement division, ensuring their compliance with project requirements, schedules, and environmental standards.
Monitor project budgets, track expenses, and implement cost control measures specific to the Abatement Division to ensure projects remain withing budgetary limits.
Effectively communicate project updates and progress to clients, stakeholders, and management, highlighting environmental considerations and requirements.
Foster a collaborative and positive work environment within the division, providing leadership, guidance and support to project teams.
Requirements Required Job Skills & Abilities
Proficient in reading and interpreting construction plans and specifications.
Strong mathematical and analytical skills for accurate cost calculations.
Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
Effective communication and presentation skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
A strong understanding and proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office programs.
High level of awareness, enabling them to proactively anticipate, adapt to, and address complex and dynamic challenges.
Education, Knowledge & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field. Equivalent work experience will be considered.
Proven experience as a Project Manager / Estimator in the construction or environmental industry, with a strong track record of successful project delivery and cost estimation.
Minimum of 3 years of experience in estimating and Project Management.
In-depth knowledge of construction materials, methods and industry regulations.
Must have Supervisors License and Project Design License
Working Environment & Conditions
Office-based with frequent site visits.
Potential hazards include construction site risks, such as uneven terrain and equipment.
Physical demands include the ability to stand, walk, and navigate construction sites.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
Regular work schedule with occasional extra hours to meet project deadlines.
Travel required to project sites and client meetings within the division on a regular basis.
