Environmental Administration

Administration of Batch Treatment Process; Industrial Waste Coordinator; PUB Semi-Annual Compliance Sampling and assist Manager in special projects, office duties as required.

Job Function: Administration of Batch Treatment Process

  • Pumps coolant, resin, and mop wastewater into 3000 gallon holding tank.
  • Determines degree of acidity and alkalinity in liquid, using a pH meter, and adds acid or alkali to neutralize the liquid. Pours specified types and quantities of engineering polymer into liquid during agitation to build floc.

Maintains record of data such as the number of gallons, quantities of chemical additions, pH readings, and time of station transfers.

  • Pumps treated liquid through a manual filter press to collect sludge and discharges water to wastewater treatment system. Compresses sludge into filter cakes. Stops press and removes and drums filter cake media. Rinses filter plates and/or soaks filter plates in an acid bath immersion tank. Properly marks, labels and stores drummed filter cakes awaiting disposal per Federal and State guideline.

Industrial Waste Coordinator

Coordinates the preparation for shipment of industrial waste including regulated and non-regulated industrial solid waste and plant scrap.

Prepares proper shipping documents. Ensures containers are properly sealed, marked, labeled and trailer is properly placard per Federal and State guidelines.

Coordinates the transfer of drummed material from first transporters to second transporter trailers with the use of material handling equipment.

Ensures required transporter documents are complete and correct.

Maintain daily, weekly, and monthly records of waste inventory, spill containment supplies and equipment, and container condition reports.

Responsible for correcting deficiencies when noted on inspection reports.

Collects, depressurizes, and crushes plant aerosol container per RCRA guidelines. Collects metal, plastic, and fiber drums and prepares them for disposition per DOT and RCRA cleaning and emptying guidelines.

Coordinates the collection, organization, preparation, and transfer of scrap commodities (i.e., pallets, cardboard, plastic regrind, and poly drums, etc.) Prepares proper shipping documents.

Maintains collection containers located at satellite accumulation points in a clean and orderly fashion ensuring proper marking and labeling procedures are followed.

Is responsible for and makes recommendation for OSHA, DOT, EPA, TDH compliance.

PUB Semi-Annual Compliance Sampling

Collects samples of water from outfall sources for laboratory analysis per water operating permit guidelines.

  • Follow sampling method protocol for the collection, preservation, and chain of custody transfer of samples to designated laboratories.

Performs pH readings on samples and records water flow readings on sample form.

Assist Manager in special projects and office duties as required.

Typing memos, reports and general correspondence, ordering supplies, filing, presentations

Must be able to work any shift and or overtime when required; Must be willing to improve quality of work processes and reduce costs; Must adhere to the requirements of the Environmental Policy.

Production Departments: If suspect material or unsafe conditions are identified, Production will be stopped if possible, by the operator and the Dept. Leadsperson, Technician or Supervisor/Manager will be notified. There are some processes that cannot be stopped by the operator. They will notify Department Leadsperson, Technician to shut down the process.
