About The 9 North Ace Unit

9 North ACE unit is a 29-bed specialty unit for the care of medical patients 65 years old and older. We take care of a variety of patients with medical conditions and co-morbidities. We specialize on the acute care of the elderly. In addition to being a Magnet hospital, our staff are NICHE (Nurses Improving Care for Healthsystem Elders) trained. Additional specialty training is provided to our staff in the care of geriatric patients. Through NICHE, all our nurses are Geriatric Resource Nurse (GRN) trained and all our nursing assistants (NAs) and clinical assistants (CAs) are Geriatric Patient Care Associate (GPCA) trained. We have a very dynamic unit, with a diverse staff that provides a unique environment of compassionate care which also provides a huge opportunity of learning and professional growth.

Scope Of Work

Provides care to the patient according to the plan of care, unit routine and hospital policy under the direction of a Registered Nurse. Safe transport of patients via wheelchair or stretcher, dispatch services and appropriate documentation of services. Provides the services of an Observer for any patient on a patient care unit who has been assessed to require constant observation, either in person or via remote video monitoring, to maximize his/her safety. Performs general receptionist and clerical duties to facilitate efficient functioning of the nursing unit. Documentation of care provided in the electronic medical record.

Qualifications

  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • Previous hospital or nursing home experience preferred
  • American Heart Association or American Red Cross Basic Life Support required
  • Current CNA certification preferred
