Human Resources Specialist
Under minimal supervision, assist and support the Human Resources Manager in all facets of human resources including benefit administration, recruiting, policy implementation, information reporting, and employee relations. Responsibilities include managing screening, interviewing, hiring, and placement of applicants to meet the company's specific needs including employee retention. Conduct employment verifications and reference checks prior to extending offers. Manage new employee orientation, policy/procedures review, performance review, and employee relations counseling. Conduct exit interviews as needed. Prepare and process paperwork, notify appropriate personnel, and provide applicable benefit information. Assist HR Manager with daily benefits administration including health, dental, life, disability, 401(k) and profit sharing including enrolling, terminating, and modifying employee benefit coverage. Serve as the first line of contact for employees regarding questions, and/or problems. Manage and maintain records of sick, vacation, attendance, FMLA, and medical leaves. Maintain files, forms, and database information associated with personnel, benefits, and general information. Reconcile monthly health, dental, and life insurance statements. Maintain Ultralink information. Coordinate employee relations issues with Human Resources Manager to effect prompt and appropriate resolution. Handle requests for verifications of employment, benefits, and other employment information. Assist the HR Manager on special projects as needed along with other members of management.
Essential Skills include knowledge of principles and practices of human resources, excellent oral and written communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, strong computer skills, highly organized, detail-oriented, accurate, and able to maintain confidentiality.
Additional Skills & Qualifications include high school diploma or equivalent experience; some secondary education, college, or vocational school is preferred. Human Resources experience in a manufacturing environment is desirable. Five years of administrative support experience, including relevant human resources responsibilities. Experience with HR investigations, submitting reports, collecting statements from employees, and communicating effectively. Understanding of basic Human Resources principles and procedures. Proficiency in onboarding, human resource management, HR administration, Microsoft Office, HR systems, and human resource generalist duties.
The position is located on-site at the plant in Birmingham, operating Monday through Friday from 8am to 5pm. The role involves working within a large production workforce.
This is a contract position based out of Birmingham, AL. The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $25.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
