Job Summary: B&A is looking for a Cloud Security Engineer to join a contract with a federal government client in support of an important mission. We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Cloud Security Engineer to lead the design, implementation, and maintenance of secure cloud environments across our enterprise. In this role, you will provide technical expertise in cloud security architecture, automation, threat detection, and compliance while collaborating with crossfunctional teams to ensure that cloud services are secure, resilient, and scalable.
Responsibilities: Design and implement secure architectures for cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP), ensuring adherence to best practices, policies, and compliance requirements.
Develop, deploy, and maintain cloud security controls including IAM policies, encryption standards, firewalls, and key management systems.
Implement and manage cloudnative and thirdparty security tools such as CSPM, CWPP, SIEM, and EDR platforms.
Perform threat modeling, risk assessments, and vulnerability scans across cloud environments; lead remediation planning and execution.
Automate security operations and processes using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform, CloudFormation, or Bicep.
Collaborate with DevOps and Engineering teams to embed security into CI/CD pipelines and application development workflows (DevSecOps).
Monitor cloud environments for security events, conduct forensic investigations, and lead incident response efforts.
Maintain documentation of cloud security configurations, standards, and procedures.
Stay current on emerging threats, vulnerabilities, and technologies and lead efforts to evaluate and implement innovative solutions.
Mentor junior engineers and provide guidance on secure cloud practices across the organization.
Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field. 610+ years of cybersecurity experience, including 3+ years in cloud security roles.
Required Skills: Deep understanding of AWS, Azure, or GCP security architectures and services.
Proficiency in scripting and automation (Python, Bash, PowerShell, etc.).
Experience with securing containerized environments (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) and serverless architectures.
Strong knowledge of identity and access management (IAM), encryption, network security, and secure application development.
Familiarity with regulatory and compliance standards such as NIST, ISO 27001, HIPAA, SOC 2, PCIDSS.
Experience with tools such as Prisma Cloud, AWS Security Hub, Azure Defender, CrowdStrike, Tenable, or Splunk.
Desired Skills: Exposure to multicloud environments and hybrid infrastructure models.
Master's degree preferred. Experience in regulated industries such as finance, healthcare, or government.
Excellent communication skills and ability to present to both technical and executive audiences.
Leadership experience in driving cloud security initiatives or programs.
Security Clearance: Active Top Secret / SCI clearance required.
