They are seeking a Lead System Protection Engineer IV responsible for leading relay settings engineering for electrical grid projects, ensuring safety and quality while collaborating with clients and internal teams.
Responsibilities:
Programming relays to provide system protection for electrical grid equipment.
Lead relay settings engineering for assigned projects.
Conduct power system studies such as CT performance, short circuit, impact, and feasibility studies.
Perform quality checks on project deliverables.
Perform owner’s engineering activities for utility clients.
Develop protection settings standards and templates.
Provide technical guidance on relay settings and protection schemes.
Lead problem resolution and develop procedures with clients and teams.
Review project scopes to align with client expectations.
Maintain accurate records and promote information flow.
Lead project planning, scheduling, and monitoring.
Report project status to management.
Support department technical needs.
Represent TRC at technical forums and meetings.
Mentor and develop junior engineers.
Assist with internal training.
Support relay testing and commissioning in the field.
Attend industry meetings to stay updated on technical developments.
Understand and develop relay settings templates and standards.
Qualifications:
Required:
Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related field.
At least 8 years of experience in protection and control engineering.
Strong knowledge of relay engineering principles.
Experience with short circuit modeling tools like ASPEN and CAPE.
Preferred:
PE license (preferred).
Over 10 years of experience (preferred).
