Amazon is launching Project Kuiper, an initiative to provide broadband connectivity via Low Earth Orbit satellites. They are seeking a Software Development Engineer to drive the design, development, and operation of key software functions for satellite systems throughout their lifecycle. Responsibilities:
Own unique software functions through design, implementation (in Python, C++, C#, or other languages), testing, and integration in a Linux or RTOS environment. Develop software to interact with devices/electronics using communication protocols such as I2C, I3C, SPI, RS-422, RS-485, Ethernet, etc. Collaborate with silicon and hardware teams for custom silicon chip and board design, bring-up, verification, integration, and testing. Adhere to best practices in high-reliability embedded software development to ensure system reliability and availability. Optimize embedded software for faster execution to reduce production test costs. Implement design for manufacturability (DFM) principles to enable scalable and efficient testability. Work with production test engineers to integrate and optimize embedded software into the production testing environment. Qualifications:
Required:
3+ years of professional software development experience (non-internship) 2+ years of experience in system design or architecture, including design patterns, reliability, and scaling Experience programming with at least one software language Preferred:
3+ years of experience covering the full software development lifecycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control, build processes, testing, and operations Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent Additional Details
