Position Summary

The

Business Development (BD) Specialist, Litigation

rolesupports the overall marketing and BD efforts of the firm, collaborating with their team members to support implementation of key initiatives for the assigned department, its practices, and its attorneys. This position supports the BD Manager, Litigation and the Sr. BD Specialist, Litigation with the development of practice-wide and cross-practice initiatives, primarily focusing on their implementation.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Strategic Planning : As requested, support execution of strategic planning initiatives, including maintaining Nexl workspaces. Proposals/Marketing Collateral : Support creation of bespoke proposal materials and RFP response content for assigned practices; develop routine pitch materials. Maintain print collateral suite and electronic content for assigned practices in collaboration with brand marketing team on messaging, design, and visual storytelling. Talent Development : Train and mentor BD Coordinator, Litigation, and provide feedback on Coordinator performance to manager. Lateral Recruiting & Integration : Work with Sr. BD Specialist to prepare all materials needed for pre-arrival packet. Prepare bios for new partners and oversee coordinator in drafting new associate bios. Assist in implementing integration plan initiatives. Directories & Rankings : Support production of award and directory submissions for assigned practices; develop attorney interview prep documents. Marketing & Operations : Perform litigation spotting for assigned practice areas. Work directly with attorneys on thought leadership (e.g., CLE presentations, client briefings, blogs, newsletters, etc.), focusing on development of content and distribution lists. Handle all logistics related to firm-produced events and conference sponsorships including follow-up/ROI with assistance of BD Coordinator, Litigation; utilize event team support as necessary. Actively participate in ongoing maintenance of the firm’s experience system. Track BD expenses against budget for assigned practices; review finance reports and correct misclassified expenses. Marketing Communications : Support marketing strategies and tactics for assigned practices, including working with attorneys on takeaways for social media posts. Markets/Offices : Support market/regional activities and/or office activities, as requested, including assisting with executing local events (e.g., booth set-ups and day-of-event logistical support).

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS :

Bachelor’s degree required. 3+ years of business development, sales, marketing or writing experience in a law firm or other professional services firm environment. This is a hybrid role. Must reside within commutable distance to local office required.

COMPETENCIES :

Operational Excellence : Experience preparing responses to requests for proposals (RFPs), pitch materials, presentations, and other related sales materials. Strong project management skills and ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines. Ability to work efficiently and effectively within established processes. Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with CRM, information systems, and database functionality/concepts and high proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.). Self-Management:Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines; proactive, confident attitude and approach; ability to work independently and prioritize tasks. Problem-Solving & Critical-Thinking:Ability to identify potential problems and suggest possible solutions; creative, resourceful, and ability to work independently. Collaboration & Communication:Excellent oral and written communication skills (email, telephone, and in-person) as well as editing skills; ability to build and maintain positive relationships with colleagues and clients. Accountability: Takes ownership of work, meets commitments, and is responsible for achieving goals.

SALARY

Illinois

based applicants only:

The target annual salary range for this role is currently $88,000 - $103,000 based on a regular, full-time schedule. The amount of compensation offered will be determined by several factors, including but not limited to experience, qualifications, market data and internal equity. To tal compensation includes a comprehensive healthcare benefits package, yearly retirement contribution, and may include an annual discretionary merit bonus.

New York

based applicants only:

The target annual salary range for this role is currently $100,000 - $117,000 based on a regular, full-time schedule. The amount of compensation offered will be determined by several factors, including but not limited to experience, qualifications, market data and internal equity. To tal compensation includes a comprehensive healthcare benefits package, yearly retirement contribution, and may include an annual discretionary merit bonus.

Washington, DC

based applicants only:

The target annual salary range for this role is currently $95,000 - $110,000 based on a regular, full-time schedule. The amount of compensation offered will be determined by several factors, including but not limited to experience, qualifications, market data and internal equity. To tal compensation includes a comprehensive healthcare benefits package, yearly retirement contribution, and may include an annual discretionary merit bonus.
