RESPONSIBILITIES
I. JOB SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Plans, directs, and manages the administration and maintenance of functions/activities of the hospital accounting function.
• Implements, monitors and coordinates accounting practices to ensure accurate and reliable data and internal control procedures to safeguard the assets of The Queen’s Health Systems and affiliates.
• Designs accounting systems to meet goals of management and regulatory requirements.
II. TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
• Essential: finger dexterity, seeing, hearing, and speaking.
• Continuous: sitting, static gripping of an object for prolonged periods.
• Frequent: walking.
• Occasional: standing, stooping/bending, climbing stairs, walking on uneven ground, lifting and carrying usual weight of 1 pound up to 5 pounds, reaching above, at and below shoulder level, frequent gripping of an object.
• Operates computer, typewriter, calculator, telephone, fax and printer.
III. TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
• Not substantially subjected to adverse conditions.
IV. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
A. EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.
• Certified Public Accountant license (active, inactive, expired status).
B. EXPERIENCE:
• Five (5) years experience in Accounting, of which 2 years must be in public accounting.
• Two (2) years in key leadership roles and/or supervisory experience in accounting related work experience.
• Experience to demonstrate:
o Extensive knowledge of GAAP.
o Knowledge of state and federal regulations, tax laws, and regulatory environment.
o Ability to identify and resolve accounting and internal control issues.
o Strong familiarity with the system functionality and capabilities.
o Strong interpersonal skills for communicating and working with all levels of the organization.
o Excellent research skills and ability to advise on complex accounting issues.
