Step into Your New Role Kleinfelder's Southern California Area is seeking an experienced Project Engineer – Aviation Infrastructure to join our team!
This position offers a hybrid work schedule and can be located in any of our offices throughout Southern California. This role involves technical leadership across the planning, design, and detailing of aviation and broader transportation infrastructure projects, focusing on airside (runways, taxiways, aprons) and landside (access roads, grading, utilities) systems. The qualified candidate will also be responsible for the following: Engineering leadership with demonstrated success in client relationships, design, and project oversight Leading the design and coordination of aviation-focused infrastructure, including pavement design, stormwater systems, utility relocation, and compliance with FAA and AASHTO standards across multidisciplinary teams Demonstrated experience in organization and technical expertise to meet deadlines and budget requirements Proven experience working on aviation projects including both landside and airside facilities Additional responsibilities include: Performing roadway, highway analysis and design, peer reviews, and constructability reviews Leading QA/QC processes to ensure quality deliverables Contributing to projects with broad and deep transportation engineering knowledge Providing technical interface with clients and contractors Developing and overseeing all project aspects, including cost control and scheduling Communicating technical and promotional material effectively to staff, clients, and sub-consultants Basic Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related field; an MS or PhD is preferred. PE license in CA or the ability to obtain within 12 months. 6-10 years of experience in design delivery for runways, taxiways, aprons, drainage, and related transportation infrastructure Excellent written and oral communication skills Self-motivated, flexible, and capable of handling multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment Strong organizational and time management skills Move Forward with Kleinfelder:
