Indiana Packers Corporation (IPC) is a fully integrated retail, foodservice and private label producer of fresh and processed meats based in Delphi, Indiana. Summary: The Logistics Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the planning, coordination, and execution of all logistics operations, including transportation for ingredients to OP-Nutrition, LLC and all feed movements to grower facilities, warehousing, and inventory management. This role ensures the efficient and cost-effective movement of goods, compliance with regulations, and on-time delivery to OP-Nutrition, LLC. The Logistics Coordinator will also work closely with internal departments, vendors, and carriers.
Responsibilities: Coordinate incoming deliveries of raw feed ingredients to ensure sufficient inventory for uninterrupted production. Monitor on-hand inventory of raw ingredients and finished feed; collaborate with purchasing and mill operations to avoid shortages or excess. Ensure all logistics activities comply with DOT regulations, OSHA standards, insurance requirements and internal biosecurity protocols; maintain clean-out logs and delivery records. Identify and implement process improvements to reduce delivery costs, improve customer service, and support feed mill efficiency. Develop and manage logistics strategies that align with company goals and customer requirements. Oversee inbound and outbound shipping activities to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with safety and quality standards. Manage carrier relationships and negotiate transportation contracts and rates. Analyze logistics data and KPIs to identify opportunities for cost savings and operational improvements. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations related to transportation and logistics (e.g., DOT, OSHA). Prepare and manage departmental budget and cost forecasts.
Education and Experience Requirements: Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, Logistics, Business Administration, Agriculture or related field. 3+ years of experience in logistics, transportation, or supply chain management, including supervisory responsibilities. Strong knowledge of logistics operations, supply chain processes, and inventory systems. Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills. Ability to analyze data and make strategic decisions based on metrics and insights. Familiarity with transportation regulations and safety compliance standards.
Preferred Skills: Experience in a manufacturing or distribution environment. Lean or Six Sigma certification. Excellent communication, organizational, detail oriented and problem-solving skills. Ability to work flexible hours, including early mornings or weekends as needed. Knowledge of FSMA, HACCP, and GMPs as they relate to feed production and transportation. The noise level in the work environment can be loud and hearing protection is required.
