one of the fastest growing areas of medicine in hepatology.Forty two percent of adult Americans have some degree of fatty liver disease.Of that group, 25% will develop NASH (N onalcoholic Steatohepatitis)

- which left of treated will result in cirrhosis and liver failure.NASH, in addition to alcohol liver disease, are the most common diagnoses that lead to liver transplantation.T

To be a provider in this program, the candidate will have the opportunity to help prevent, treat and hopefully halt the progression of this disease process in this growing patient population.

The APP will have the opportun ity

to work in an academic environment with a nationally recognized Transplant Hepatology and Transplant Team.

The ability to be involved at the national level with both Transplant and Hepatology organizations to present the work and research being conducted at Henry Ford Health.

The Nurse Practitioner / Physician Assistant will

manage and follow patients with metabolic liver disease - primarily nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), as well as patients who have the more severe form of NAFLD - known as nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH).

The candidate will work with these patients to monitor the progression of their disease, also disease management (medications, lifestyle changes, ordering and analysis of imaging and/biopsies.

The Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant ill work in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment.

The Specialty/Invasive NP will be responsible for the assessment, diagnosis, treatment, education, consultation, and care coordination as a first line provider to patients and their families.

Provides inpatient and/or outpatient medical care. Works in collaboration with attending physicians, advanced practice providers, consultants, house officers, nurses, and other members of the medical care team to ensure that patient outcomes are achieved safely and efficiently.

Specific procedures as per credentialing as indicated by training and experience.

1 year of APP experience required

Gastroenterology and hepatology experience either in an in-patient or out-patient setting is preferred.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Master's degree in nursing or

Bachelor's Degree or Completion of an AMA-approved Physician Assistant program

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES REQUIRED: Current certification as a Certified Nurse Practitioner. Current State license as a Registered Nurse or

Requires Physician Assistant Michigan state licensure and continued certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)

Current BLS. Current ACLS/ATLS/PALS provider status as required by department.
