Introduction
The Automation IT Automation Application Development Brand Technical Specialist (BTS) role is a technical, pre-sales, client-facing position supporting customers in the US Industry Market. As a Brand Technical Specialist, you'll work closely with clients to develop relationships, understand their needs, earn their trust, and demonstrate how IBM's industry-leading solutions can solve their problems while delivering value to their business.
Your role and responsibilities
The BTS provides prospects, customers, IBM business partners, and IBM’s sales team with in-depth domain, product, solutions, and/or technical product expertise covering the IBM Automation Application Development (AppDev) pillar. This includes solutions such as WebSphere Application Server, UrbanCode/IBM DevOps, and Cloud Pak for Applications.
You will apply your business insights, build and maintain client relationships, incorporate hardware, software, and services into client-valued solutions, and ensure client readiness for the implementation of technical solutions. This role offers an opportunity to shape the future for both IBM and its clients.
The BTS engages in pre-sales activities, including sales/business discussions, solution discovery, assessments, demonstrations, pilots, and Proof of Concepts. They understand the client's business and technical requirements and the competitive landscape related to the IBM Automation AppDev pillar.
This role requires a consultative, solutions-focused approach involving needs analysis, demonstrations, customized presentations, and the delivery of documentation to support sales efforts. When engaged in specific opportunities, the BTS is responsible for the technical accuracy of the proposed solution.
Required technical and professional expertise
Work closely with clients to understand their business requirements, assess existing systems, and recommend solutions utilizing IBM AppDev products.
Proven track record in technical sales, preferably within the AppDev space.
Good understanding of security practices, methodologies, architecture patterns, and best practices.
Basic exposure to AppDev solutions, especially WebSphere Application Server.
Sales and Business Development Skills: Ability to drive sales processes from opportunity identification to managing client expectations.
Pre-Sales Support and Solution Design: Experience delivering technical presentations, demonstrations, and proofs of concept.
Ability to navigate complex sales cycles and assist in contract negotiations.
Collaborate with technical teams for successful implementation, configuration, and customization of AppDev products.
Conduct workshops and training for clients' stakeholders on AppDev functionalities and best practices.
Excellent communication and presentation skills to convey technical concepts effectively to technical and non-technical audiences.
Preferred technical and professional experience Automation Market Expertise: Demonstrating expertise in the Automation market and establishing trust as a valued advisor (training on IBM's Automation offerings will be provided).
Technical exposure to IBM AppDev solutions, especially WebSphere.
Background in development, especially Java.
