Administrative Assistant

Twin Falls County is seeking an Administrative Assistant to provide administrative and secretarial support for the County Commissioners office. This position requires finely honed time management and organization skills with attention to detail and accuracy.

The job requires managing correspondence, maintaining communications with key staff, scheduling and coordinating meetings, performing research and generating reports, preparing internal support materials and reports, and performing bookkeeping and accounting.

The position reports to the Office Administrator and is usually performed in an office environment.

Duties / Responsibilities

The Administrative Assistant is trained in all aspects of the Administrator's position, including scheduling hearings, posting notices, researching state code, submitting claims, processing claims, understanding budget lines, and being familiar with all the departments within the County.

The position requires effective spelling, grammar, punctuation, composition of documents, time management, and the ability to manage multiple complex projects.

Qualifications

The requirements listed below are representative of the minimum knowledge, skill, and/or ability required for an individual to satisfactorily perform each essential duty and be successful in the position.

Knowledge of current office practices, record keeping, customer service, bookkeeping, customer service procedures, operation of a personal computer, research methods, document and database management, English grammar, and ability to utilize numerous computer software programs.

Skill and ability to respond to changing tasks, maintain up-to-date knowledge of policy and procedures, provide answers to questions, manage data bases, operate standard office equipment, type and perform word processing and spreadsheet functions, prepare documents, communicate effectively, follow verbal and written instructions, maintain a professional demeanor, maintain confidentiality, work independently, use good judgment, utilize problem-solving skills, demonstrate integrity, and perform duties in accordance with County policies and procedures.

Acceptable experience and training include a high school diploma or GED, an Associate's Degree in Business or related field, three years' experience in an administrative office, preferably in the public sector, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Physical demands include standing, walking, sitting, stooping, kneeling, bending, using hands to keyboard or type, handling materials, manipulating tools, lifting and moving up to 25 pounds, occasionally lifting and moving up to 50 pounds, and having sufficient vision and hearing abilities.
