Job Title: Electrical Engineer – System Studies Job Location: 720 E Butterfield Road STE 200 Lombard, IL 60148 Primary Function The Electrical Engineer – System Studies will perform engineering duties including organization of all activities required for the development and implementation of system studies for industrial, renewable (Solar, Wind, BESS) and utility customers.

Duties & Responsibilities Employee may be called upon to perform any or all of the following functions:

Supervise and coordinate all study and activities to ensure on time completion of a given project

Coordinate field services data gathering with customer project representatives

Create system models using SKM, ETAP, and/or PSCAD software

Perform system studies:

Load flow

Short circuit

Equipment evaluation

Motor starting

Protective device coordination

Arc flash hazard

Harmonic studies

Insulation Coordination

TOV

TRV

Create reports documenting process and results of system studies

Communicate with customers as necessary

Prepare project schedules and reports as necessary

Properly use the document management system

Ensure project team is using Dashiell standards and that the design effort is moving in the most efficient manner possible

Bring potential problems to the attention of the responsible party

Other duties as required

Minimum Qualifications / Experience Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university, with a power background preferred. Preferred licensed professional engineer. If registered in a state other than where the engineer will practice, the employee must be able to obtain a license within one year of date of hire. A minimum of 2 years of direct experience in either electrical system studies or system protection engineering and design is required. Strong knowledge and understanding of substation components and their functions.

Strong knowledge and understanding of three phase power systems

Strong knowledge and understanding of per-unit mathematics and symmetrical components

Demonstrated ability to perform power flow, short-circuit and coordination studies using SKM and/or ETAP software

Strong capability to communicate via written reports to detail process and results of system studies

Knowledge of common work processing, spreadsheet and e-mail software

Ability to work in a team environment

Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers

Physical Requirements

This position requires minimal physical effort.

Must be able to endure prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer for a minimum of 8 hours a day

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will primarily work indoors, with occasional outdoor exposure to year round weather conditions and noise.

Must be able and willing to travel overnight for trainings and/or meetings as required (10%)

Working extended hours, including weekends, may be required periodically.

May occasionally lift up to 25 pounds at a time.

Compensation/Benefits Compensation $80,000 - $215,000 yearly The compensation range for this position is compliant with all local and state regulations and is based on several factors such as work experience, education, qualifications, and internal and external market factors. The total annual compensation package will consist of a base salary and eligibility to participate in our discretionary year-end incentive bonus program.
