Job Summary
The Senior Program Manager leads the implementation and continuous improvement of clean energy programs that advance VEIC’s mission, performance goals, and strategic priorities. This role manages a high volume of complex program activities and is accountable for ensuring strong results through expert project management, operational execution, and cross-functional coordination.
Senior Program Managers balance day-to-day program delivery with strategic contributions, stakeholder engagement, and team collaboration. They translate big-picture goals into actionable work plans, drive execution with efficiency and ownership, and support teams through mentorship and knowledge sharing.
Location This is a hybrid position, and the ideal candidate will be located in Vermont.
Essential Functions
Program Performance and Budget Management
Lead day-to-day implementation of complex or high-impact programs, ensuring delivery of performance goals, exceptional customer experience, and continuous operational improvement.
Manage substantial program budgets, including forecasting, variance analysis, and strategic use of resources to drive outcomes.
Apply advanced project management skills to organize, execute, and adapt program activities in alignment with evolving priorities.
Translate strategic direction into actionable work plans, timelines, and milestones that guide team execution.
Develop and document program-specific procedures and workflows to support effective execution, scale, and alignment with evolving program needs.
Monitor and interpret performance data to make timely decisions, address emerging risks, and continuously improve outcomes.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Partner with internal teams (e.g., engineering, marketing, customer support, account management, and data analytics) to ensure aligned and effective program delivery.
Exchange data and feedback across teams to inform outreach strategies, engagement tactics, and continuous program improvement.
Participate in cross-functional projects and working groups to develop, test, and refine operational systems and processes.
Customer and Stakeholder Engagement
Serve as a point of contact for external stakeholders, including program participants, trade allies, and community partners.
Respond to complex or escalated customer issues with professionalism and accountability.
Gather and interpret feedback to inform program improvements and support customer satisfaction.
Team Collaboration and Mentorship
Collaborate closely with Program Managers, Program Specialists, and Program Coordinators to ensure seamless operations and strong team performance.
Provide informal mentorship and peer coaching to build team capacity and shared knowledge.
Share lessons learned and best practices to enhance team effectiveness and foster a culture of continuous improvement and shared success.
Compliance, Evaluation, and Reporting
Ensure program operations comply with regulatory, contractual, and organizational requirements, including documentation, data integrity, and audit readiness.
As the program lead, conduct program evaluations, including data analysis, stakeholder input gathering, and preparation and delivery of final presentations and documentation.
Prepare and contribute to internal and external reporting, including performance updates, insights, and success stories.

Knowledge and Experience
Strong personal commitment to the mission, vision, goals, and values of VEIC.
Minimum of six years professional experience in program or project management, Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Proven ability to manage complex, high-volume programs with accountability for performance, budget, and customer outcomes.
Advanced project management capabilities, including planning, delegation, prioritization, and issue resolution.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to use performance data to inform decisions, assess progress, and adjust tactics.
Excellent collaboration and communication skills with both internal teams and external partners.
Ability to mentor peers, share knowledge, and contribute to team-wide problem solving.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and comfort working with digital tools, databases, and reporting systems.
Work Environment and Physical Requirements
This position primarily involves desk-based work with extensive collaboration and communication responsibilities. Physical requirements include:
Ability to remain stationary at a workstation for extended periods (typically 6-8 hours per day with regular breaks).
Regular use of computer, keyboard, mouse, and telephone/headset requiring fine motor skills and repetitive hand/wrist movements.
Visual acuity to view digital screens, documents, and presentations for prolonged periods.
Verbal communication abilities are sufficient for clear articulation during in-person and virtual meetings, presentations, and discussions.
Auditory capabilities to participate effectively in conversations, conference calls, and virtual collaboration sessions.
Cognitive focus for simultaneous management of multiple communication streams, projects, and stakeholder relationships.
Occasional movement between meeting spaces, collaboration areas, and individual workstations.

Compensation $72,000 - $77,000 a year
