About the Role As CloudZero continues to scale, we’re looking for a senior software engineer to join one of our core product development teams. This team is responsible for ensuring CloudZero remains the industry leader in ingesting, modeling, and operationalizing cloud cost data for our customers.

You’ll work on systems that bring in cost data from the “Big 3” cloud providers (AWS, GCP, Azure) as well as third‑party SaaS and PaaS tools like Datadog, Databricks, New Relic, MongoDB, and Snowflake. The work directly impacts how customers understand and act on their cloud spend.

Our product teams are intentionally small and highly collaborative — typically five engineers partnered with a product manager, engineering manager, and product designer. In this role, you’ll act as a technical leader on the team, helping translate strategic goals into well‑scoped work and guiding the team toward high‑quality, scalable solutions.

What You’ll Do:

Design, build, and maintain APIs, services, and backend systems that power CloudZero’s platform

Build scalable features capable of handling large, complex customer datasets

Write clean, readable, and testable code that is easy to maintain and extend

Participate in product discovery to deeply understand customer problems and help shape the best technical solutions

Break down complex initiatives into clear, actionable work for the team

Mentor and lead by example, helping raise the technical bar across the team

Collaborate closely with engineers, product managers, and designers to deliver meaningful customer value

Contribute to improving engineering processes so teams can move quickly, iterate often, and maintain ownership and autonomy

What We’re Looking For:

5+ years of experience building APIs and complex backend systems in the cloud (AWS preferred)

Strong proficiency in Python (our primary backend language)

Experience working at early‑stage or growth‑stage SaaS startups

Hands‑on experience working with data at scale

A solid understanding of design patterns, with the ability to apply them pragmatically

Comfort working cross‑functionally and synthesizing feedback into polished product experiences

Strong communication skills; personable, inclusive, and collaborative working style

Ability to work core hours aligned with Eastern Time (with flexibility outside of those hours)

Please note : CloudZero is unable to sponsor employment visas. Candidates must have permanent authorization to work in the United States without the need for current or future sponsorship.
