We are also proud to be named**Canada’s Most Admired Corporate Cultures for 2023 and 2024!** Learn more at**Job Description:**The **Supply Chain & Inventory Management Director**is a strategic role within SHN’s procurement portfolio and is responsible for overseeing SHN’s supply chain and inventory management office to drive sustainable value and achieve efficiencies. Reporting to the Deputy Chief Financial Officer, this individual will oversee a team of individuals and have direct oversight of SHN’s inventory management function to implement and monitor inventory management processes for improved standardization, visibility, and optimization.SHN does not have an in-house procurement team and uses Mohawk Medbuy Corporation (MMC), a national, not-for-profit shared services organization, to manage all procurement and strategic sourcing. MMC acts as SHN’s centralized procurement partner, handling contract management, sourcing, and vendor compliance. SHN participates in group purchasing initiatives, leveraging economies of scale for better pricing and supply chain resilience.The Director will work closely with MMC and hospital leaders, ensuring strategic goals and objectives are met. This includes a multidisciplinary team of clinical stakeholders in key procedural areas (Surgery and Cardiology) to optimize supply chain and inventory processes to balance operational efficiency, financial stewardship, and patient safety.**Key Responsibilities:*** Leadership & Strategy:
+ Build an Inventory Management Office and oversee a team that coordinates and manages onsite inventory
+ Develop and implement supply chain and inventory management strategies that align with SHN’s efficiency, standardization, and optimization goals, as well as align with accreditation/best practice standards.
+ Collaborate and build strategic relationships with multidisciplinary stakeholders that include MMC, clinical teams, finance, logistics/inventory staff and vendors
+ Oversee vendor relationships and evaluate vendor performance to ensure SHN is maximizing value.
+ Serve on designated organizational committees, such as the Value Analysis Committee, which is responsible for reviewing, trialling, approving, and procuring medical products.
+ Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and customer service.
+ Monitor and improve metrics to drive efficiencies, cost savings, patient safety and quality outcomes.* Inventory Management:
+ Develops, implements, and sustains systems and processes that create a best-in-class clinical site supply chain function
+ Inventory Control: Monitoring and organizing stock, performing counts, and ensuring accurate records of all Items
+ Procurement/Contract Management: Collaborate with MMC to oversee contracts and manage supplier relationships, including overseeing contracts, negotiations, renewals, approvals, credits and rebates (Note: MMC is responsible for overall contract management, the Director will work closely with MMC to ensure SHN is maximizing value).
+ Waste Reduction: Tracking expiration dates, defective products, rebates and managing inventory to minimize waste
+ Cost Optimization & Supply Utilization: Collaborate with clinical managers in key procedural areas (Surgery and Cardiology) to monitor spending against targets, with a specific focus in procedural areas
+ Identify cost savings opportunities through vendor standardization and process improvements.
+ Oversee and analyze supply utilization and develop forecasting models for future needs.* Systems/Technology Implementation and Integration:
+ Implementation & Integration: Deep understanding and ability to implement, integrate, and optimize the use of supply chain technology and inventory management systems, including SAP S4Hana and Epic. (Note: SHN is exploring the feasibility of implementing an inventory management system)
+ Monitor KPIs: Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for supply chain efficiency and effectiveness.
+ Best Practice Alignment: Implement best practices in supply chain logistics, inventory control, and sustainability.* Stakeholder Engagement:
+ Collaborate with clinical teams in key procedural areas, to understand product needs, evaluate alternatives, and ensure supply availability.
+ Partner with Finance, Quality, and Risk Management teams to support operations and patient safety.
+ Collaborate with MMC and Clinical Managers on vendor and contract management.
(Note: Clinical Managers are the owners of their respective contracts. The Director, however, will oversee vendor compliance with contractual obligations and ensure SHN derives maximum value from these agreements.)
+ Liaise with vendors and external partners, when required.**Qualifications:*** Masters Degree in a relevant field e.g. business, supply chain, commerce or economics or equivalent work experience.* A minimum of (7) years of proven experience managing complex supply chain management or strategic sourcing projects, preferably in a healthcare environment.* A minimum of (7) years experience in Strategic Sourcing, Public Procurement Purchasing, Materials Management, Project Management, and/or Management experience.* Certified Supply Chain Management Professional (SCMP) Designation or PMP Certification, Public Procurement Designation is an asset.* Sound working knowledge of the Ontario Broader Public Sector Procurement Directives, trade agreements, and public procurement laws.* Knowledge of Epic, SAP, or inventory management systems (nice-to-have).* Demonstrated proficient communication skills, both written and oral.* Demonstrated organization/time management skills.* Knowledge of procurement and supply chain tools* Proficiency of business computer application including MS Office 365 and SharePoint.* Developing/conducting presentations – advanced knowledge.* Project Management and/or conflict resolution training.* Ability to interact with all levels of internal staff, hospital staff, clinicians, external stakeholders, suppliers.* Team player, sense of urgency, strong communicator, resourceful, time management, integrity.* Ability to prioritize workload, manage unexpected occurrences and at the same time manage deadlines.*This opportunity is posted to support the recruitment of an existing vacant position.**Accommodation and Diversity Statement:
