Software Development Engineer in Test (TS/SCI Clearance)

Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking an

Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET)

to support automated testing and validation for complex software systems in a secure environment. This role will focus on building robust test frameworks, validating APIs, and ensuring quality across distributed architectures.

This position will be hybrid in Washington, DC!

Responsibilities of the SDET include:

Design and implement automated test suites for end-to-end validation using

Playwright

or

Cypress

Develop and maintain test scripts in

Python

and work with

TypeScript/JavaScript

for front-end testing

Validate and troubleshoot APIs, distributed NoSQL and relational databases, caching systems, and event-driven architectures

Build and optimize CI/CD pipelines for automated testing, preferably using

GitHub Actions

Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure test coverage and quality standards across containerized and serverless applications

Support verification and validation for complex software systems in mission-critical environments

Maintain version control and code quality using

Git

and

GitHub

Required Qualifications for the SDET:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field

3+ years of professional experience in software testing, backend development, or DevOps (or equivalent self-driven technical experience)

Proficiency in

Python

and familiarity with

TypeScript/JavaScript

Experience with end-to-end testing frameworks such as

Playwright

or

Cypress

Strong knowledge of containerized applications, serverless architecture, and CI/CD automation

Familiarity with Git-based workflows and version control systems

Active U.S. Security Clearance (Secret required; TS/SCI preferred)

Preferred Skills:

Experience with distributed systems and multi-tier architectures

Knowledge of API testing tools and performance optimization strategies

Exposure to mission-critical or regulated environments

Compensation for the SDET includes:

Salary Range: $120,000 - $160,000 depending on experience
