Description:
A well-established, multi-site Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) in the Tampa Bay region is seeking an experienced Medical Director to join its senior leadership team. This is a high-impact leadership role responsible for overseeing clinical quality, provider performance, and integrated care delivery across a multi-site Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) system in Florida.
This position combines clinical practice with strategic leadership, working closely with the Chief Medical Officer to drive quality outcomes, provider engagement, and operational excellence while continuing to serve patients directly. Leadership is targeting an approximate 60% clinical / 40% administrative split, with flexibility based on experience and organizational needs.
Job Responsibilities:
- Provide direct patient care while overseeing clinical operations within assigned specialty
- Supervise and mentor physicians and advanced practice providers, including onboarding and retention
- Partner with the CMO and other clinical leaders to ensure consistent, high-quality care delivery
- Lead clinical quality initiatives, performance improvement, and QI/QA programs
- Participate in clinical privileging, provider evaluations, and medical staff appointments
- Develop and implement policies, workflows, and long-range clinical planning
- Collaborate with operations, learning & development, and leadership teams across the organization
- Serve as backup to the Chief Medical Officer as needed
- Participate in Board of Directors meetings and prepare clinical reports when requested
Qualifications:
- MD or DO from an accredited medical school
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in an appropriate specialty
- Active Florida medical license (or ability to obtain)
- Minimum 5 years of clinical practice experience
- At least 2 years of clinical leadership experience
- Experience in a multi-provider practice environment
- Strong background in quality improvement and team-based care
- Experience with EHR systems (Epic experience preferred)
- DEA license preferred (or ability to obtain)
- Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) experience strongly prefered
Schedule:
- Monday-Friday hours with significant schedule flexibility
- 8hr and 10hr shift options
- Remote Admin time available once established in role
