Summary / Objective The Carpenter in the Commercial Drywall Division is responsible for performing skilled carpentry work in support of commercial drywall construction projects. This includes reading blueprints, installing metal and wood framing, backing, blocking, drywall, and specialty ceilings. The Carpenter ensures the proper construction, installation, and finishing of walls and ceilings in compliance with job specifications, safety standards, and quality expectations.
Primary Job Responsibilities
Install and secure metal and wood framing, drywall, backing, and blocking.
Construct and install ceiling grids, acoustic ceiling tiles, and specialty ceiling systems.
Measure, cut, and shape wood, drywall, and other construction materials.
Use hand and power tools safely and efficiently.
Ensure work is completed accurately, on time, and to quality standards.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
Follow all company and job site safety policies and procedures.
Other Responsibilities
Assist in training apprentices and laborers as needed.
Support other trades or site needs when necessary.
Contribute to project planning and material ordering discussions.
Perform punch list work and final installations as directed.
Other duties as assigned by supervisors or project managers.

Proficient in commercial framing and drywall installation methods.
Basic blueprint reading required.
Precise measurement skills.
Ability to work independently and in a team setting.
Knowledge of construction tools, equipment, and job site safety.
Excellent problem‑solving and attention to detail.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to meet schedules and deadlines under pressure.
Supervisory Responsibility This position does not have direct supervisory responsibilities but may assist in mentoring apprentices or laborers.
Work Environment
Exposure to varying weather conditions including extreme temperatures.
Uneven terrain, elevated surfaces, or confined spaces.
Loud environments with dust and airborne particles.
Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
Physical Demands
Regularly required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
Use of hands and arms to lift, carry, push, and pull construction materials and tools.
Frequently lift or move materials up to 50 pounds; occasionally up to 75 pounds.
Climbing ladders, scaffolding, and working at heights as needed.
Visual acuity to read plans, measure materials, and check alignment.
Expected Hours of Work This is a full‑time position. Hours of work vary from job site to job site based on the contractor's schedule. Evening and weekend work may be required based on project needs.
Travel Travel is typically local to assigned job sites. No regular domestic or international travel is expected.
Required Education and Experience
High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Minimum 3 years of commercial carpentry experience in drywall, framing, or ceilings.
OSHA 10 certification preferred.
Additional Eligibility Qualifications Must be able to pass a background check and drug screening.
Work Authorization Must be eligible to work in the United States. Some positions may require U.S. citizenship based on project or contract requirements.
