Job Responsibilities
Billing – Compile and prepare patient charges. Prepare invoices, billings, UB‑04, and 1500 claim forms to send to 3rd party payers, indicating line items and total costs. Review charges, evaluate family, third‑party payers, and agency resources for payment, ensuring billing per contracts, transmitting or mailing claims, and following up on correspondence.
Systems Support – Maintain and update departmental system, including templates and payer/physician information.
Collaboration – Act as a preceptor for new employees, perform specialty service functions, and serve as a liaison among Physicians Billing Service, Admitting, Outpatient Surgery, Outpatient Department, Patient Financial Services, and other Cincinnati Children’s departments.
Financial Support – Counsel patients on third‑party coverage, determine Medicaid and other eligibility, complete necessary paperwork, coordinate admissions, input charges, manage accounts receivable, research third‑party payer rates, conduct utilization review with the Utilization Review department, and process, post, and balance payments.
Quality – Provide Quality Assurance reports for the division.
Job Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent
2+ years of work experience in a related discipline
