Work Schedule:
Flexible part‑time (minimum 2 hours per week). Lessons and program schedules may vary and include mornings, afternoons, evenings, and weekends.

Marshall White Center Pool (Year‑Round Facility)
Position Summary Under general supervision of the Recreation Aquatic Supervisor II, the Aquatic Fitness Instructor is responsible for planning, coordinating, and leading safe, effective, and engaging fitness classes at Ogden City aquatic facilities.
The instructor promotes health and wellness in the community by providing a positive experience for participants of all skill levels and ensuring a safe aquatic environment.
Essential Job Functions
Plan and deliver engaging and effective swimming lessons for participants of varying ages and abilities using approved curriculum.
Assess participants' swimming skills to determine appropriate class placement and progression.
Modify lesson plans as needed to accommodate different learning styles and abilities.
Provide clear instructions, demonstrations, and constructive feedback to participants.
Maintain a safe environment by enforcing pool rules and safety guidelines.
Monitor participants during lessons to prevent accidents or injuries.
Respond quickly and effectively to emergencies, administering first aid or CPR if necessary.
Communicate with parents/guardians to provide progress updates and answer questions.
Keep accurate records of attendance, participant progress, and lesson plans.
Assist with the setup and teardown of lesson equipment and notify the supervisor of any damaged or malfunctioning items.
Requirements
16 years or older.
Current Water Safety Instructor Certification by the Red Cross.
Current CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and First Aid Certification (required prior to employment).
Strong swimming skills and thorough understanding of swimming techniques and water safety.
Experience teaching swimming lessons preferred but not required.
Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to effectively instruct participants of all ages and skill levels.
Dependable, punctual, and able to work flexible hours.
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements
Work is performed in aquatic environments with exposure to water, humidity, and varying temperatures.
Ability to push, pull, or lift: 20 pounds frequently, 50 pounds rarely.
Requires physical fitness to demonstrate swimming techniques and perform rescues if necessary.
May need to climb, balance, jump, stoop, kneel, or crouch.
May involve exposure to hazards or physical risks associated with responding to aquatic emergencies.
May involve moderate exposure to unusual elements such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, chemicals, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises.
