Position Technician, II Fleet CHICAGO USX TERMINAL Monday‑Friday 4:00 pm – 12:30 am Remote: No Grade: TCD2 Compensation: $27.78 – $29.88 per hour

Responsibilities
Diagnose and repair transmission, engine, electrical, suspension, driveline, HVAC, brakes and air systems on tractors and trailers; may require assistance from Tech III.
Perform light trailer body repairs including doors, tires, and lighting systems.
Perform basic routine preventative maintenance on tractors and trailers.
Repair or replace bolts on body parts such as hoods and cab extenders.
Drive trucks and pull trailers using a yard jockey in and out of the shop before and after repairs.
Perform DOT inspections, accurately complete DOT forms and all other documentation in a timely fashion.
Perform open seat inspections to prepare tractor for the next driver.
Perform 90‑day lease operator inspections.
Clean and maintain work area on a daily basis.
Maintain a high level of productivity and be able to work within or close to most SRT times.
Check vehicle fluids (transmission, oil, windshield wiper, antifreeze, etc.).
Perform vehicle preventative maintenance (PMs) as outlined in USX PM guidelines.
Change vehicle tires.
Grease mechanical parts.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications Education
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Technical Diploma from an accredited Diesel Technology program preferred.
Experience
Minimum of 3 years of tractor and trailer experience required.
A Technical Diploma from an accredited Diesel Technology Program may substitute for 1 year of the required experience.
Experience in the transportation industry is a plus.
Skills and Certifications
Valid driver’s license required.
Basic computer skills preferred.
Ability to read and write.
Must provide own hand tools adequate to perform job functions.
OEM Online certifications preferred.
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand for long periods of time while supporting full body weight.
Ability to walk at least 1,000 feet and change positions frequently.
Ability to move shoulders with full range of motion in all six planes of movement.
Ability to reach heights over 72″ frequently; ability to crouch to a height of 18″ frequently.
Ability to reach and stretch across the midline with full cervical range of motion and bilateral range of motion.
Ability to use hand tools constantly for extended periods of time.
Ability to stoop to a minimum of 30″ and kneel to a minimum of 18″.
Ability to frequently climb 51′ with one 24″ step and pull full body weight.
Ability to frequently climb stairs 24″ without a hand‑hold rail.
Ability to pull self up a ladder with 4x17″ steps using upper body pull.
Ability to constantly go in/out of a truck on a 51‑inch step pulling full body weight.
Ability to frequently go up and down a ramp.
Ability to push or pull 250 lbs, 125 lbs, or 100/50 lbs as required.
Ability to occasionally carry up to 75 lbs and routinely lift 50 lbs; able to perform lighter loads consistently.
Must be able to perform all physical requirements with reasonable accommodation.
