Finance Accountant Assistant 1A (Provisional)
City University of New York is seeking a Finance Accountant Assistant 1A for a provisional assignment.
Responsibilities
Under direct supervision, perform bookkeeping, clerical, and sub‑professional work related to college accounting using computers and technology.
Maintain financial records of contracts, appropriations, allocations, authorizations, and payments; assist in ledgers and reconciliations.
Process invoices, vouchers, claims, statements, bills, and departmental checks; verify documents for accuracy.
Handle cash and checks at the front counter, receive remittances, make appropriate disbursements, and keep logs and receipts.
Generate reports, produce checks and other financial documents as required.
Qualifications
A high school diploma or equivalent plus one (1) year of full‑time bookkeeping, figure clerk, account clerk, or similar experience; or an associate degree from an accredited institution of higher education combined with the required experience.
Demonstrated English language proficiency.
Assignment Level 1a: A baccalaureate degree from an accredited institution of higher education with at least eighteen (18) credits in accounting and at least six (6) credits in data processing, computer science, finance, banking, economics, taxation, or statistics.
Compensation New hire rate Level I: $45,367. Incumbent rate Level I: $51,267. New hire rate Level IA: $51,132. Incumbent hire rate IA: $57,782. Salary suppression: 13% for the first 24 months of employment only.
