Purpose As the Manager, Distribution, you will oversee day‑to‑day operations within a geographic territory, establishing business objectives, allocating financial and employee resources, managing the department budget and implementing company programs and policies. Your leadership will enhance safety, quality of work and operational efficiency.

Responsibilities

Participate in planning, design, building, maintenance, switching and control of electrical distribution and transmission systems.

Analyze market and competition, understanding organization’s strengths and weaknesses to identify external threats and opportunities.

Adapt strategy to changing conditions by overcoming resistance and supporting those affected by change.

Implement strategic business objectives, strategies and plans in support of the company’s strategic goals.

Manage and allocate financial and employee resources and ensure adherence to the department budget.

Promote safety through demonstrated leadership and deliver a zero‑accident workplace message regularly.

Respond to after‑hour emergencies relating to the electrical system with Distribution & Transmission activities/workload.

Manage schedules and complete the annual substation maintenance plan and/or capital work.

Perform inspections and field audits of substation maintenance and/or capital work performed.

Interview, hire, train, coach and develop employees.

Implement and deliver more efficient ways to perform the job.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience in the electric utility or related industry.

Completion of the Assistant Manager training program or equivalent directly related electrical or utility experience.

Previous supervisory experience or completion of the Assistant Manager training program.

Demonstrated management, administrative, supervisory and leadership skills.

Availability for after‑hour emergencies on short notice.

Leadership, motivation and influence skills.

Proficiency with word processing, spreadsheets and mainframe applications.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Live within the assigned work area to support daily and after‑hours operational issues.

Ability to handle confidential information appropriately.

Travel may be required.

Valid driver’s license.

Preferences

Minimum of five years experience in distribution operations, maintenance and construction.

Thorough knowledge of labor agreements, accident prevention manuals, code requirements, personnel procedures, budgeting and general company policies and procedures.

Knowledge of electrical system construction, operation, and maintenance practices.

Eligible for an annual discretionary performance incentive bonus of up to 15.00% of salary.
