Job Title: Project Lead Structured Cabling | Reports To: Project Manager/General Superintendent/Superintendent
Job Summary The Project Lead - Structured Cabling will act as the on-site coordinator and supervisor of several Crew Leads - Structured Cabling for voice and data installation projects. The Project Lead's task is to ensure job completion according to company and customer quality and safety requirements while maintaining the efficiency of the staff assigned to the project. The Project Lead will also serve as the main on-site customer contact, attend facility and construction meetings as required, and perform quality checks and produce as-built drawings.
Job Duties and Responsibilities The Project Lead will consistently run major project crews, assume responsibility for effective performance, provide necessary training, ensure adherence to company and customer safety and quality guidelines, and hold weekly safety meetings. The Project Lead coordinates with the Project Manager to ensure productivity, job completion, and compliance with the project budget. All IES Commercial and project paperwork will be completed accurately and on time, including timesheets, material transfers, work orders, change orders, and tool transfers. The Project Lead will perform quality checks, coordinate moves, and cut sheets for voice and data cross‑connects, prepare red‑lined as‑built drawings, and tackle technical issues as they arise. Other responsibilities may be assigned as needed. Min USD $28.00/Yr. Max USD $38.00/Yr.
Physical and Mental Requirements The Project Lead must be self‑motivated, positive, professional, and able to develop and implement project process improvements. They must promote company culture, act as a liaison to customers, possess strong problem‑solving and critical‑thinking skills, and communicate orally and in writing. The candidate must be able to stand and walk regularly on large job sites, work at heights on ladders, enter confined spaces, lift up to 50 lbs, move up to 75 lbs, see and distinguish colors, read small print, and recognize audible signals. Travel within the branch or regional territory as needed, with mandatory regular attendance.
Tools: screwdriver (regular and Phillips), drywall saw, torpedo level, tape measure, snips (with belt sheath), pliers (needle‑nose and channel locks), hammer, cable stripper, flashlight, and gloves.
Punch tool with 110 block and 66 block blade, 6/8 position combo crimp tool, Krone/3M/BIX, butt set, volt‑ohmmeter, 4‑pair continuity tester, and 5‑gang punch tool.
Education, Certification, License, and Skill Requirements
Must possess a High School diploma or GED equivalency.
Must have a minimum of three (3) years of experience in telecommunications or a related technical field.
Must be able to terminate fiber.
Must have a minimum of six (6) months of supervisory and/or managerial experience.
Must be proficient in using the tools listed above.
Must be skilled in interpreting blueprints and other project documents, including specifications, reporting, and quality requirements.
Must know universal communication color codes.
Must be proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and MS Project).
Must meet the company minimum driving standards.
