Responsibilities ECS is offering an opportunity for an experienced Structural Project Manager/ Engineer to join our Mid-Atlantic Facilities team in Chantilly, VA. In this role, you'll lead projects involving forensic investigation, repair & rehabilitation design, and non‑destructive testing services for existing structures. You'll work closely with a multidisciplinary team to deliver high‑quality consulting solutions across a variety of facilities and clients. Conduct forensic investigations and repair design for existing structures.
Lead the setup and execution of multiple concurrent projects, assigning appropriate staff and ensuring high‑quality deliverables.
Perform and oversee field and lab testing methods such as GPR, anchor pull testing, bond testing, sounding, and half‑cell corrosion potential.
Guide sample collection (concrete, masonry, steel, wood) and ensure adherence to proper techniques and standards.
Interpret federal, state, and local building codes and apply them effectively to project findings and recommendations.
Prepare technical reports and proposals with minimal oversight; present findings to clients in meetings or calls.
Coordinate with field staff to direct work activities, including structural assessments, testing, design, and construction administration.
Review calculations, RFIs, submittals, and construction documentation for accuracy and compliance.
Manage project budgets, timelines, invoicing, and track potential changes to scope.
Mentor junior staff and support their development through coaching and oversight.
Foster a safety‑first culture by promoting the proper use of PPE and safe work practices on all job sites.
Qualifications
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture (from a NAAB‑accredited program), Engineering, Building Science, or a related field (ABET‑accredited)
2+ years of relevant repair/forensic experience with PE license or 4+ years of relevant repair/forensic experience without a license
EIT or PE license preferred
