Production Supervisor - Shipping & Warehouse

Scope of Role
The Production Supervisor oversees the day‑to‑day operations within a diverse and talented manufacturing team. Beyond supervision, they also coach, resolve issues, train, and serve as a link between direct reports and upper management. This individual will lead the Shipping Loaders and Warehouse Teams.
Key Objectives and Responsibilities
Facilitates the loading and shipment of building products to meet production demands, while ensuring quality, safety, and productivity.
Collaborates with plant leadership to develop staffing guidelines, optimizing resource utilization while controlling costs.
Hires, supervises, evaluates, and replaces staff as required to meet performance goals.
Develops and trains employees for increasing responsibilities, conducts periodic evaluations, and holds safety and production meetings daily. Drives initiatives of 5S, cost reduction, and quality improvement.
Conducts interviews and identifies qualified candidates for hire.
Assigns personnel, oversees rotations, and maintains effective communication during shift changes and troubleshooting.
Ensures accurate completion of paperwork related to line operation, including logs, audits, and corrective actions.
Readily addresses any urgent production or shipping requirements, even if it disrupts the regular workflow. Knowledge and understanding of all safety policies and regulations and ability to address all unsafe acts and conditions.
Administers policies fairly and consistently.
Provides coaching and counselling to employees and corrective action when needed, following company guidelines.
Promotes overall goals of company in safety, quality, delivery, and cost.
Identifies and assists with implementations for continuous process improvement. Uses data to improve and refine production process.
Manages materials to reduce waste and support quality.
Collaborates with other departments to ensure timely job completions and loads per day.
Highly developed oral and written communication skills, combines with the ability to educate and train employees in a production environment.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities Supervise, monitor, and manage the work of others to ensure tasks are completed accurately, efficiently, and on time.
Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent (GED).
Associate degree or a bachelor's degree in related field preferred but not required.
Minimum of two years of leadership experience in a shipping, warehouse, and/or manufacturing environment.
Demonstrated ability to supervise, motivate, mentor and train employees on a regular basis.
Additional Information
Lifting Capacity – ability to lift up to 30 lbs.
Mobility – prolonged periods of time on feet, standing, bending, etc.
Exposure – moving mechanical parts, fumes, airborne particles, and non‑climate‑controlled environment.
Noise Tolerance – high noise levels.
