The City of DeKalb, IL is seeking a
Network & Security Administrator
to join our Team! The Network & Security Administrator is responsible for ensuring the City’s network infrastructure is secure, reliable, and efficient across all municipal departments. This role safeguards sensitive data, supports uninterrupted public services, and ensures compliance with government regulations.
The salary range for the position is $89,665 – $130,012. Salary and placement within the range will be commensurate with knowledge, skills and experience. The City of DeKalb provides a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical, dental, vision and prescription benefits, life insurance coverage, HSA & flexible spending accounts, deferred compensation and participation in the Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund (IMRF).
Responsibilities:
Provides technical assistance to employees and ensures reliable hardware, software, and network systems.
Install, configure, and maintain LAN/WAN, wireless networks, servers, and VoIP systems.
Manage network hardware, firewalls, and security tools.
Monitor network performance and troubleshoot issues to minimize downtime.
Implement cybersecurity measures, conduct risk assessments, and ensure compliance (CJIS, HIPAA, PCI).
Support virtual environments, cloud technologies, and Microsoft infrastructure (Active Directory, Office 365).
Participate in disaster recovery planning and respond to emergencies 24/7.
Qualifications:
High School Diploma required. Associate’s degree in IT or related field preferred.
5+ years of IT experience in network administration and security.
Certifications such as CompTIA Security+, Cisco CCNA/CCNP, or CISSP preferred.
Experience with Cisco/Juniper networking equipment and virtualization platforms (VMware, Hyper‑V).
Valid driver’s license required.
