The Quality Inspector is responsible for performing visual and quality inspections of materials and fabricated equipment at vendor shops, on-site fabrication locations, or testing facilities.
Position Summary
The Quality Inspector is responsible for performing visual and quality inspections of materials and fabricated equipment at vendor shops, on-site fabrication locations, or testing facilities. The role involves evaluating conformance to client specifications, industry standards, and approved procedures, with a strong focus on process containment equipment. The position is adhoc in nature, based on client demand, and requires extensive travel within the continental United States.
Job Title: Part Time Adhoc Quality Inspector (Process Containment Equipment)
Schedule: Adhoc, based on client needs
Travel: At least 75%
Compensation Range: $30.00 – $48.00 per hour
Responsibilities
Perform inspections or audits and review testing activities for conformance with client specifications, industry standards, and approved procedures, and report results
Review material test reports for compliance with applicable codes and standards
Apply basic knowledge of material properties during inspection activities
Demonstrate understanding of procurement and fabrication processes, including relevant oil and gas industry codes and specifications
Follow up on dispositions and corrective actions related to non-conformances
Document inspection activities using electronic reporting formats
Review and agree upon project quality procedures, standards, and specifications to ensure compliance by engineering, procurement, and manufacturing teams
Review Inspection and Testing Plans (ITPs) to ensure contractual surveillance requirements are met and identify critical inspections and tests to be witnessed
Carry out inspection visits in accordance with ITPs, either personally or through third-party resources
Travel frequently throughout the continental United States
Use MS Office programs and Outlook proficiently
Scope of Work
Level 1: No inspection; expediting only
Level 2: Industry standard equipment; final inspection only
Level 3: Custom engineered-to-order equipment; periodic in-process inspection visits during fabrication based on inspection specifications and supplier progress
Level 4: Special or complex custom engineered-to-order equipment; includes Level 3 requirements plus special instructions from a designated client subject matter expert and participation in formal pre-inspection meetings
Level 5: Non-spared or project-critical custom engineered-to-order equipment; includes Level 4 requirements plus resident inspection with daily presence at the supplier’s facility

Requirements and Qualifications
Experience in quality control inspections and testing, including nondestructive testing, mechanical testing, dimensional inspection, pressure testing, and coating inspections
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in third-party vendor inspection, expediting, or auditing
High school diploma or GED, plus trade school, on-the-job training, or university diploma
Required certifications:
A.P.I. 510, or
A.P.I. 570, or
AWS CWI (Certified Welding Inspector)
Formal training in radiographic film interpretation
Successful completion of proficiency testing in film and code interpretation
ASNT SNT-TC-1A Level II Radiographer (RT) or Radiographic Interpreter (RTFI), or equivalent
