Job Description Penn State Shenango is seeking part‑time Peer and Professional Tutors in a variety of subjects.
Availability will be by‑appointment‑only, walk‑in, embedded tutoring, or online tutoring, depending on tutor versatility and student demand.
Desirable Subject Areas
Anatomy/Physiology
Biology
Communications
Criminal Justice
Economics
Math (all levels)
Microbiology
Physical Therapy
Psychology
Statistics
Spanish
Writing.
Qualifications
Peer Tutors should be excellent students who are knowledgeable in their subject areas and capable of effectively conveying that knowledge to others.
To be a Peer Tutor, a student must achieve an overall GPA of at least 3.0 and an A- or A in the subject(s) tutored.
Professional tutors should have a degree completed in a related field of study.
The SHARC expects employees to exemplify civil, courteous, and professional behavior at all times. Peer Tutors are expected to be prompt for appointments, be knowledgeable about electronic scheduling, handle problems tactfully and effectively, and keep information regarding all students confidential.
Campus Security & Crime Statistics Pursuant to the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act and the Pennsylvania Act of 1988, Penn State publishes a combined Annual Security and Annual Fire Safety Report (ASR). The ASR includes crime statistics and institutional policies concerning campus security, such as those concerning alcohol and drug use, crime prevention, the reporting of crimes, sexual assault, and other matters. The ASR is available for review here. Employment with the University will require successful completion of background check(s) in accordance with University policies.
