About the Role:
Suzano is looking for a
Human Resources Payroll Specialist
to join our team at our Pine Bluff, AR facility. This role will be essential in serving as a tactical partner and trusted advisor to plant leadership, while managing payroll operations and supporting a wide range of HR functions, including compliance, employee relations, workforce planning, and policy implementation. This position ensures accurate and timely payroll processing for employees at the Pine Bluff Mill while acting as the bridge between HR strategies and local operational execution.
What You’re Going to Do:
Manage Payroll Operations:
Ensure accurate and timely processing of weekly and bi-weekly payroll for hourly and salaried employees, including deductions, garnishments, and tax compliance.
Maintain Payroll Records:
Oversee employee timekeeping, attendance, and leave tracking using HRIS and payroll systems.
Compliance & Audits:
Ensure adherence to federal, state, and local wage and hour laws, and support internal/external payroll audits.
Employee Support:
Serve as the primary point of contact for payroll inquiries, resolving discrepancies and providing guidance on pay-related issues.
Partner with Leadership:
Align payroll and HR strategies with business goals and operational priorities.
HR Support:
Assist with employee relations, onboarding, policy implementation, and performance management as needed.
Reporting & Analysis:
Prepare payroll reports, analyze labor costs, and provide insights to support data-driven decisions.
Continuous Improvement:
Identify opportunities to streamline payroll processes and enhance accuracy and efficiency.
What We Expect from You:
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Accounting, or a related field.
4+ years of experience in payroll administration and HR Generalist responsibilities, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
Experience navigating Workday system
Experience navigating UKG HCM system
Strong knowledge of payroll regulations, tax compliance, and wage and hour laws.
Proficiency in HRIS and payroll systems & Microsoft Office Suite.
Ability to work autonomously with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience supporting a unionized environment.
Familiarity with multi-state payroll processing.
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust across all levels of the organization.
