Senior Full-Stack Java Developer
to support a multiyear IT Modernization and Transformation program for the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA). This role involves developing secure, hardened software solutions as part of an Agile team performing DevSecOps. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in
Java Spring Boot ,
React , and modern development practices, and will contribute to building scalable, tested, and secure applications.
Responsibilities
Develop and maintain full-stack applications using Java Spring Boot for microservices and React for front‑end UI.
Participate in the full Agile application development lifecycle, including design, coding, testing, and deployment.
Implement and maintain microservice‑based architectures and RESTful APIs.
Work with relational databases (Postgres) and NoSQL databases (Redis).
Write automated unit tests using JUnit, Mockito, and Cucumber.
Collaborate with Agile Scrum teams to complete user stories and deliver production‑ready code with minimal oversight.
Support acceptance testing, load testing, troubleshooting, and performance tuning.
Adhere to development standards and participate in regular code reviews.
Communicate effectively with team members, management, and customers regarding application functionality and progress.
Interface with customers and external teams to explain application behavior and demonstrate completed functionality.
Education Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering, or a related field (preferred).
Experience
5+ years of experience in Java and Spring Boot development.
3+ years of experience developing React web applications.
Experience with microservice‑based architectures.
3+ years of Agile experience utilizing DevSecOps and CI/CD pipelines.
Familiarity with Agile tools such as Jira and Confluence.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with Docker and containerization.
Experience with Apache Camel.
Familiarity with DoD STIG compliance processes.
Additional Requirements
Must reside in the Laurel, MD area for occasional travel to office or customer site.
Must attend and actively participate in daily Agile meetings.
Compensation
Salary Range: $140,000 - 155,000 (depending on experience).
Full Benefits: Medical, Dental, Vision, 401K, PTO, Sick Leave, and Holidays (as required by law).
