Job Description
IAM Hourly represented employees who currently work at the main (Sunnyvale/Palo Alto) unit, Santa Cruz, Vandenburg Air Force Base or Eastern Range facilities must apply to open requisitions on Brass Ring to be considered for the position.
Responsibilities Set up and operate lithographic presses with pressure adjustments on one or more cylinders to produce printed copy where registration and image quality are critical. Make mechanical operating adjustments as required. Operate terminal sorters/collators in conjunction with press operation, size copy, determine proper lens and camera settings, and operate plate making equipment to prepare press-ready lithographic printing plates.
Basic Qualifications Experience in setting up and operating lithographic presses to produce high‑quality copy, including half‑tones, large solids, screen tints and duo‑tones. Use varied sizes, finishes and weights of paper stock, including plastics. Make mechanical adjustments, set cylinder pressures, use ink additives and maintain proper ink/water balance. Perform operator maintenance, install and replace consumable operating supplies and expendable machine components. Prepare and use chemicals and other operating supplies as required.
Desired Skills Working knowledge of plate making, lithography and bindery and finishing operations. Knowledge of multi‑page layout and ability to detect improper impositioning and copy layout and plate deficiencies. Ability to mix, match and blend lithographic inks and additives, and use tools and equipment necessary for the work. Minimum of two years' experience operating comparable equipment or satisfactory performance as a Lithographic Printer Trainee.
Security Clearance This position requires a government security clearance. You must be a U.S. Citizen. Clearance level: Top Secret.
Work Location & Schedules Onsite full‑time: The work will be performed onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility. Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules. Schedule for this position: 9x80 with every other Friday off.
