Job Overview: The Senior Data Engineer is responsible for orchestrating, deploying, maintaining and scaling cloud infrastructure targeting big data and platform data management (Relational and NoSQL, distributed and converged). This role focuses on developing solutions that transform the company’s platforms to deliver data‑driven insights and value.

Responsibilities

20%

• Develops and maintains infrastructure systems (e.g., data warehouses, data lakes) including data access APIs; prepares and manipulates data using multiple technologies.

15%

• Interprets data and analyzes results using statistical techniques, providing ongoing reports and actionable insights for key projects; designs, manages, and conducts quality control procedures for data sets from multiple systems.

• Develops data models by studying existing data warehouse architecture and evaluating alternative logical models, applying metadata and modeling standards, and planning data classes, indexes, directories, repositories, messages, sharing, replication, backup, retention, and recovery.

• Creates data collection frameworks for structured and unstructured data.

• Improves data delivery engineering knowledge by attending workshops, reviewing publications, establishing personal networks, benchmarking best practices, and participating in professional societies.

• Applies data extraction, transformation, and loading techniques to connect large data sets from various sources.

• Implements best practices for data auditing, scalability, reliability, and application performance.

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.

Experience: Minimum 5 years in database design and modeling; experience developing and updating ETL/ELT scripts using Ab Initio in AWS; hands‑on experience with ETL application development, relational databases, NoSQL, and data architecture.

In lieu of a Bachelor’s degree: Additional 4 years of relevant work experience required.

Job‑specific skills: Must be able to work in a fast‑paced environment with frequently changing priorities and deadlines; must handle multiple customer service demands, meet established deadlines, and communicate effectively with internal and external customers, including challenging situations.

Disclosures: The incumbent is required to immediately disclose any debarment, exclusion, or other event that makes them ineligible to perform work on federal health‑care programs.

Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge and understanding of at least one programming language (SQL, NoSQL, Python) – Expert level.

Knowledge and understanding of database design and implementation concepts – Expert level.

Knowledge and understanding of data exchange formats – Expert level.

Knowledge and understanding of data movement concepts – Expert level.

Strong technical and analytical problem‑solving skills – Expert level.

Organizational and communication skills (written and verbal), ability to handle multiple priorities – Advanced level.

Additional Skills

Ab Initio, AWS (EC2, S3, Redshift, Aurora PostgreSQL) – Hands‑on experience required; GenAI knowledge/experience is a plus.
