Summary The Kitchen Manager is responsible for the daily operations of the kitchen, ensuring food quality, consistency, cleanliness, and team performance. This role works closely with FOH management and ownership to execute systems, control costs, develop staff, and maintain a smooth, high-energy kitchen environment.
Oversee all BOH day-to-day operations
Ensure consistent execution of all menu items to Toasty Badger standards
Maintain proper food safety, sanitation, and health department compliance
Execute prep, pars, ordering, and inventory systems
Maintain equipment, smallware, and BOH organization
Lead, train, and develop BOH staff
Schedule kitchen staff to meet business demands
Coach line cooks and prep staff on speed, accuracy, and execution
Enforce standards, accountability, and a positive kitchen culture
Assist with hiring, onboarding, and performance management
Manage food cost, waste, and labor targets
Conduct inventory and assist with vendor ordering
Follow recipe costing, portion control, and yield standards
Assist with menu rollouts and specials execution
Service & Communication
Be a visible, active leader during service
Jump on the line as needed to support the team
Communicate effectively with FOH leadership
Help troubleshoot service issues quickly and professionally
Qualifications
2+ years of kitchen leadership experience (Kitchen Manager, Sous Chef, or Lead Line Cook)
Lead Line Cook experience strongly preferred
Strong understanding of food safety and BOH systems
Ability to lead by example and work on the line
Organized, calm under pressure, and detail-oriented
