Key Duties & Responsibilities
Safety Leadership:
Maintain a safe working environment and enforce compliance with all safety policies, procedures, and regulatory standards.
Operational Oversight:
Approve equipment removal from service, oversee proper lockout/tagout procedures, and issue safety permits in accordance with plant protocols.
Environmental Compliance:
Ensure the facility operates within all environmental regulations, limits, and permits.
Emergency Response:
Lead or assist in emergency response situations, including injuries, accidents, or equipment failures.
Performance Management:
Direct and monitor shift, daily, weekly, and monthly plant checks to optimize operational performance.
Troubleshooting:
Diagnose and resolve operational or mechanical issues to minimize downtime and ensure system reliability.
Maintenance Coordination:
Work closely with maintenance teams to plan and execute scheduled and corrective maintenance activities.
Project Support:
Participate in plant improvement projects as assigned by the Operations Manager.
Team Development:
Train, coach, and manage personnel to build a motivated, skilled, and cross‑trained workforce.
Administrative Duties:
Maintain accurate personnel and operational records, assign manpower, and uphold housekeeping and maintenance standards across the facility.
Position Requirements
Minimum
3 years of supervisory experience
in power plant or resource recovery operations.
Massachusetts Second Class Engineer’s License
required.
Must obtain and maintain an
ASME QRO Provisional License
and the ability to acquire a
Site‑Specific Operator’s License .
Hands‑on experience with
high‑pressure boilers
and
electrical generation systems
required; an engineering degree is preferred.
Ability to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, to support 24/7 operations.
Critical Skills & Abilities
In‑depth understanding of
steam generation, power station operations, and instrumentation/control systems .
Strong ability to
develop, implement, and monitor
operational procedures and technical instructions.
Proven
troubleshooting, training, and leadership
skills.
Excellent communication, problem‑solving, and decision‑making capabilities.
Must obtain and maintain an
ASME QRO Shift Supervisor’s License .
Ability to work in challenging environments, including areas with heat, cold, dust, noise, and moisture.
Physical capability to climb, lift heavy objects, and perform manual labor such as pushing, pulling, sweeping, and shoveling.
