About the Job The Unit Manager – Supply Chain develops and coordinates the unit. This person is responsible for ensuring the unit meets agreed factory end‑to‑end performance, short‑ to mid‑term goals, and customer expectations. The unit coordinates Sourcing, Purchasing, factory planning, and non‑project production orders. This is an onsite position located in Richmond, VA.

Responsibilities

Responsible for the performance, input, and output of the unit, including financial responsibility.

Set and follow up targets for the unit, broken down from factory level and clearly linked to the factory performance.

Oversee the planning and execution of supply‑chain activities, including demand forecasting, inventory management, and procurement.

Responsible for managing the standard order team.

Create, update, and maintain supply‑chain processes to ensure efficient and cost‑effective operations.

Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to assess supply‑chain performance and drive continuous improvement.

Implement inventory sourcing strategies to minimize stockouts, reduce carrying costs, and optimize inventory levels.

Implement and maintain the supply‑chain processes within the unit.

Develop and motivate people to grow with the company.

Implement policies, standards, values, and culture.

Responsible for safety of the people, processes and manufactured/delivered products; quality + Q‑system; delivery; and cost.

Secure standardized work & SOP.

Identify opportunities for process improvements and cost optimization within the supply‑chain and implement effective solutions.

Support and initiate supplier development activities together with support functions.

Participate in NEP and give input to EPD.

Secure the result of continuous improvement activities in the unit, including Lean Six Sigma and 5S.

Support problem‑solving & improvement activities.

Participate in making the operational plan.

Understand and deal with the real problems of the unit by being present.

Involved in new product development and give input to EPD (Existing Product Development).

Ensure supply‑chain processes within the unit are implemented and maintained.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in construction management, business, engineering, supply‑chain management, or equivalent, and/or a minimum of five years’ experience in engineering and/or construction or equivalent work/field/military experience.

Master of Engineering or supply‑chain (preferred) or equivalent experience.

Leadership and management skills.

At least 3 years of experience as a minimum from a production/manufacturing company in the supply‑chain area.

Experience with improvement tools, e.g., 5S, Six Sigma, Kaizen.

Project work experience.

Financial competence.

Communication skills.

Negotiation skills.

Detail oriented.

Resilience.

Problem‑solving.

What’s in it for you? At Alfa Laval, we carefully consider a wide range of factors to determine your total compensation package. The base salary for this role is typically $110,000 to $120,000.
