Buyer
The Buyer will be responsible for procuring maintenance-focused MRO items such as mechanical, electrical, automation, plumbing, lubrication, and OEM spare parts. This role supports maintenance technicians and planners by ensuring the availability of critical spares for preventive maintenance, shutdowns, and emergency repairs. The Buyer will create, manage, and expedite purchase orders using the ERP/CMMS system while maintaining accurate maintenance part data, BOMs, pricing, and vendor records.
Responsibilities
Procure maintenance-focused MRO items including mechanical, electrical, and OEM spare parts.
Support maintenance technicians by ensuring availability of critical spares.
Create, manage, and expedite purchase orders using ERP/CMMS systems.
Maintain accurate maintenance part data, BOMs, pricing, and vendor records.
Coordinate ERP purchasing activities with CMMS work orders and maintenance schedules.
Manage critical spare parts inventory, min/max levels, and reduce obsolete inventory.
Source and qualify OEM and MRO suppliers; negotiate pricing, lead times, and service agreements.
Support equipment reliability initiatives by identifying standardization and cost‑reduction opportunities.
Ensure compliance with GMP, SQF/BRC, OSHA, and food manufacturing requirements.
Resolve receiving, quality, and invoice discrepancies related to maintenance purchases.
Support plant shutdowns, capital projects, and emergency maintenance needs.
Prepare documentation and reports for audits and maintenance performance reviews.
Essential Skills
3–5 years of MRO purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment.
Experience supporting maintenance, preferably in food manufacturing.
Strong ERP experience with systems like Microsoft Dynamics.
Working knowledge of CMMS systems and maintenance planning processes.
Understanding of mechanical, electrical, and industrial maintenance components.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and maintenance purchasing reports.
Strong communication skills and ability to work closely with maintenance teams.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
High school diploma or GED required; associate or bachelor's degree preferred.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and maintenance purchasing reports.
Ability to look up purchases and manage purchase orders.
Work Environment This position is 100% onsite, working Monday through Friday for 9 hours per day. The schedule is flexible, allowing a start time between 6 am and 9 am, as long as communication is maintained. The role offers room for growth in a fast‑paced plant environment.
