Senior Patient Services Rep - Urology (Medical Center)
Join Houston Methodist to work as a Senior Patient Services Representative in our Urology department. The role involves patient check‑in/check‑out, appointment scheduling, and supporting the revenue cycle. The position serves as a mentor for less experienced staff and serves as a role model. Non‑exempt Qualifications
Education
High School diploma or equivalent (GED, homeschool equivalency, partial/full post‑secondary education, etc.) Experience
Five years of experience, including three years in a related healthcare role. Skills and Abilities
Demonstrates required skills through ongoing competency assessments. Proficiency in English (speaking, reading, writing) Effective communication with patients, physicians, family, and co‑workers, using customer service principles. Strong customer service, phone and scheduling skills. Basic computer skills; familiarity with electronic medical record systems. Basic medical terminology knowledge. Problem‑solving ability. Working knowledge of revenue cycle components and insurance requirements for reimbursement. Essential Functions

Contributes to a positive work environment and a team‑focused unit. Performs patient check‑in/check‑out, drives scheduling, clinical protocols, and financial clearance activities. Coordinates patient flow, manages add‑ons, reschedules, cancellations. Acts as mentor and next‑level resolution source. Service Essential Functions
Uses excellent communication to provide highest quality service during every encounter. Responds promptly to staff, patients, physicians, and team members. Contributes to patient, employee, physician satisfaction and revenue cycle process. Generates reports and assists with department correspondence. Quality/Safety Essential Functions
Liaison for patient, medical staff, third parties; resolves access and quality matters. Accurate data entry into database systems. Ensures patient confidentiality and HIPAA compliance; assists clinical staff as scope allows. Finance Essential Functions
Accurately records charge entry, registration, scheduling, insurance verification, authorizations, referrals. Minimizes incidental overtime; prioritizes tasks. Efficient use of resources; participates in inventory management. Growth/Innovation Essential Functions
Suggests process improvements for efficient patient flow and quality matters. Seeks opportunities for continuous learning beyond baseline competencies. Supplemental Requirements

Employees may be required to be on‑call during emergencies regardless of selection (No mandatory on‑call). Travel
