Position Summary The Logistics Coordinator has general responsibility for coordinating and overseeing all operational activities assigned to them daily. Under the direction of the Operations Supervisor, the Operations Lead is responsible for oversight of the associates dedicated to the warehousing, receiving, and shipping of product in their area in a manner consistent with company service and cost objectives.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Training Responsibilities
Mentor and train new and existing associates in specific distribution activities to help achieve established customer demands
Train associates on current Standard Operating Procedures, including shipping, receiving, picking, and quality control
Assist in forklift operation and certification for new and existing associates
Shipping/Receiving Responsibilities
Oversee and coordinate unloading of inbound shipments, orderly stacking of product, and picking and staging of outbound shipments in accordance with the highest possible levels of productivity. Verify required inbound/outbound paperwork with drivers, ensuring all products are properly counted.
Efficiently and accurately load orders according to the appropriate doors and trailers.
All shipping/receiving/picking functions processed as defined by the Standard Operating Procedures.
Research discrepancies that may occur in the shipping and receiving process.
Customer Service
Conduct yourself in a professional manner in appearance and communications.
Communicate with customers telephonically, electronically, or in person.
Prepare required activity reports accurately and efficiently for site management.
Quality Control Responsibilities
Use appropriate documentation to ensure all product and orders are received or shipped correctly and accurately picked.
Verify products meet quality standards, report any damages or discrepancies, stack, package, shrink wrap, and label products.
All quality control functions processed as defined by the Standard Operating Procedures.
Report inconsistencies or problems to the Operations Supervisor or Operations Manager.
Participate in quality meetings.
Safety, Housekeeping, and Compliance
Knowledgeable and comply with relevant ISO standards that impact this position, department, and company.
Execute all safety protocols and promote a safe work environment.
Maintain cleanliness of the warehouse and assist in its security.
Comply with all Standard Operating Procedures, corporate and site-specific policies, safety rules, and OSHA/MSDS Standards.
Participate in safety meetings.
Labor Management
Direct warehouse work team operations to achieve prescribed objectives.
Assist associates and temporary labor in completing productivity sheets and capturing production and payroll hours accurately.
Assist the Supervisor in maintaining a productive workforce.
Help establish work schedules and ensure effective job assignment and completion.
Assist the Operations Supervisor in ensuring all associates handle products according to quality procedures and guidelines.
Responsibility and Authority
Participate in department meetings.
Initiate action to prevent non-conformities, record problems, and recommend solutions through designated channels.
Bring all non-conformities immediately to the attention of the Quality Department.
Equipment Operation
Use equipment such as sit‑down, stand‑up, reach truck, sweeper scrubber, scissor lift, cherry picker, aisle master, pallet jack, etc.
Maintain equipment upkeep and report problems.
Inspect and perform minor maintenance on forklift and other equipment daily.
Operate all equipment safely and efficiently following prescribed work methods.
Maintain an active forklift certification.
Maintenance
Perform or assist in building, grounds, and equipment maintenance as assigned.
Other Duties
Perform other clerical and administrative tasks as guided by site management, including answering telephones, scheduling appointments, greeting visitors, filing and record keeping.
Willing to work evenings and weekends as needed.
Work overtime as dictated by business, whether mandatory or voluntary.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Required Qualifications Education and/or Experience
High school diploma or GED.
1 year experience working in a logistics/distribution/relevant environment.
Ability to operate MHE.
Must be able to work in unregulated temperatures ranging from mild to moderate during warmer and colder months.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations or Professional Designations
Satisfactory completion of a forklift training program.
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities Computer Skills
Basic computer skills.
RF Scanners.
WMS functions.
Language Skills
English (reading, writing, verbal).
Mathematical Skills
Basic to intermediate level to verify quantities of product, count inventory, or perform other duties associated with handling, storing, and distributing client products.
Other
Strong attention to detail, accuracy and timely completion of tasks.
Ability to perform duties with minimal supervision or guidance.
Effective communication with all levels of the organization.
Ability to adapt to change and thrive in a fast‑paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
2–4 years' experience in warehouse/logistics/distribution environment.
2–4 years proven forklift experience.
Current or prior MHE certification.
