About The Role This position is for a Ground Segment Systems Engineer for a large, multi-year contract supporting a cutting‑edge and innovative space program. The Ground Segment Systems Engineer leads ground‑related systems engineering activities and oversees contractor progress developing ground software.

Role Responsibilities

Provides advice / analysis on ground segment requirements, design, development, integration, test, deployment, and operations support

Supports the development of ground segment architecture, CONOPS, and requirements

Supports relevant ground segment specification development and test planning activities

Coordinates the completion of ground segment specification sell‑off, as well as other verification and validation (V&V) activities

Leads interface definition between the ground segment and external interfaces

Coordinates with the Program Office for any proposed specification changes and facilitates approved changes into the baseline

Advises and mentors customer personnel regarding segment architecture, specifications, and V&V

Represents the Program Office at developer Agile events, ensuring that the customer and stakeholder needs and requirements are prioritized

Engages with Agile development teams to assess implementation and execution

Assesses developer test approaches and serves as the Customer Witness to integration, verification and validation (IV&V) tests, reporting results to the Program Office team

Provides technical and cost assessments of vendor proposals, reviews technical reports, design artifacts, and program plans

Required Qualifications

Must be a US Citizen

Must possess an active TS/SCI clearance with Polygraph

BS or MS degree in a relevant Science, Technology, or Engineering field of study

5+ years of work experience in a relevant field, ideally on satellite programs (government or commercial)

Satellite tasking, collection, processing, exploitation, and dissemination (TCPED) experience

Familiarity with cloud technologies

Effective communication, coordination, and customer engagement skills

Ability to work in a fast‑paced, dynamic, and team‑oriented environment without supervision

Experience with Agile software development practices

Desired Qualifications

8+ years of work experience in a relevant field, ideally on satellite programs (government or commercial)

INCOSE certification or similar

Experience with cloud‑based software ground systems

Software test experience

Details Target Salary Range: $104,000 - $166,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual's experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
