S&ME is seeking an individual to join our Field Exploration team in
Raleigh, North Carolina
as a
Driller Assistant
and help us provide engineering solutions to our clients.
What You Will Do: As a
Driller Assistant , under the supervision of a driller assists with basic geotechnical drilling operations. Expands knowledge of drilling methods including auger, mud rotary, and rock coring operations. Assists in the transport of drill rigs and equipment. Will exhibit safety, quality workmanship, and integrity; be dependable; and be open to working outdoors year‑round. The ability to travel with
paid hotels and per diem
is part of this position's requirements.
Drilling Operations
: Assist with routine drilling operations.
Field Sampling
: Log samples and complete field logs.
Equipment Maintenance
: Assist with vehicle and equipment maintenance to ensure good working conditions.
Quality:
Assure that all drilling functions, including quality control, quality assurance, and verification are performed per the standard drilling methods, project specifications, and other contract documents.
Who You Are:
You have a High school diploma or GED
You have a Commercial Driver License (CDL), a plus
You have effective communication skills (speaking, reading, and writing) using the English language
You have knowledge and ability to perform routine vehicle and equipment maintenance
Working Conditions and Physical Demands: You are willing and able to perform the physical demands of this position with the use of Company-provided Personal Protective Equipment such as:
Working outdoors the majority of the time in varying weather conditions
Walking over rough and uneven terrain
Routinely lifting and carrying 40-50lbs, (field/laboratory samples and equipment)
Traveling out-of-town (typically overnight) for assignments as necessary
Working outside of normal business hours when necessary
