Job Summary Under the direction of the Executive Director, the Development Manager is responsible for planning, implementing, and assisting with the execution of strategies to help the organization meet annual fundraising goals. This role manages individual giving, annual campaigns, events, and donor stewardship, while also supporting grant writing. The Development Manager also collaborates closely with the Marketing Director.

Key Responsibilities Individual Giving & Annual Fund

Help plan and execute multi-channel annual fundraising campaigns (email, direct mail, social media).

Manage a portfolio of mid-level supporters with regular stewardship touchpoints.

Help maintain the donor database (ASAC currently uses Bloomerang), ensuring accurate gift entry and timely acknowledgments.

Help develop and track fundraising metrics and revenue projections.

Grants & Foundations

Assist with grant prospecting and research.

Prepare grant applications and reports, as requested, with a focus on grants under $10,000.

Events (as needed)

Assist with special fundraising events (logistics, sponsorships, committees), as needed.

A Step Ahead Chattanooga does not have an annual fundraising event, but occasionally hosts smaller events in conjunction with special campaigns or organizational milestones.

Communications

Draft fundraising appeals, newsletters, impact reports, and donor-facing content, in collaboration with the Marketing Director.

Manage the fundraising content of the website and social media in collaboration with the Marketing Director.

Job Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree Preferred

Proven track record of successful fundraising in a non-profit, philanthropic, or school

Strong organizational, writing, time-management, and project-management skills.

Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.

Ability to work independently with a small staff in a primarily remote working environment.

Access to reliable internet and phone, as well as a quiet location to have confidential conversations

Ability to reliably travel within the region as needed

Work Schedule A Step Ahead Chattanooga’s team works Monday - Friday from 9:00 - 5:00. Full-time staff follow a 4-day schedule. The Development Manager will work 4 days per week, primarily from 9:00 - 5:00. This position will require flexibility to meet with donors, attend community events, etc., outside of regular business hours.

Work Location This position will be based remotely, with limited mutually agreed upon weekly office hours at ASAC’s downtown office and regular in-person engagements expected throughout the A Step Ahead Chattanooga service area.
